Larne protest: Significant PSNI presence for anti immigration demonstration

A significant police presence was in place in Larne on Friday as anti immigration protesters gathered.

PSNI landrovers were stationed in the Millbrook roundabout area from late afternoon.

There were reports that suggested a lorry had been parked at a roundabout on the outskirts of the Co Antrim causing traffic delays in the area.

Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson had posted on X, formerly Twitter, that “police have assured that those blocking roads will be identified and prosecuted”.

Details of the planned protest were shared on social media over recent days, describing it as a protest that “isn’t about a person skin colour”.

In a post on social media, it said: “It’s about our government letting thousands of illegal immigrants in, who destroy all their identification, and us the tax payers have to foot the bill to feed, house and give them money.

“Yet the PSNI treat peaceful protestors as criminals.”
