Local community “shocked” after woman found dead in house in Donaghadee

A local community in Co Down is “shocked” after a man was arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in a house in Donaghadee on Monday morning.

The PSNI say they received a report of a woman aged in her 50s being found dead in the house just after 7am on Monday morning.

A man, also aged in his 50s, has been arrested by police investigating the woman’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness said: “Police received a report just after 7am this morning, Monday 14 October, that a woman, aged in her 50s, had been found dead in a house in the Rosepark area of the town.

”While our enquiries are at an early stage, I can confirm that a man, also aged in his 50s, has been arrested as part of our investigation and remains in custody at this time.”

Detective Chief Inspector McGuinness is appealing to anyone who was in the Rosepark area between the night of Sunday 13 October and the morning of Monday 14 October, and who may have information that could assist the investigation to contact officers on 101.

Ards and North Down UUP councillor Mark Brooks told the Irish News the deceased was from a well-known local family and that the community has been left “shocked” following the discovery on Monday morning.
