Lurgan club hosts ‘Armagh Fan Day’ ahead of All-Ireland final

The club is home to the academy where three Armagh players had their start

Lurgan club Clann Éireann GAC has painted the town orange in celebration of Armagh’s success to date and setting the mood for the week ahead of the big game.

The Armagh Fan Day held on Sunday drew in a crowd for a range of events.

On the pitch the club’s academy teams, from Mini Eireanns to the under 14s took part in exhibition games.

Started in 2002, this is the same academy where Armagh players Conor Turbitt, Tiernan Kelly and Barry McCambridge had their start.

The recently formed Clann Éireann GAA for All ‘All Star Team’ showed off their newly acquired skills.

Charlie Shanks, a former All Ireland handball champion, held a challenge “Who can handball a goal like Barry?”.

Local lad, Conor McCabrey performed his Armagh version of This is the Life by Amy McDonald. He was supported by local musicians Marty Thompson and Don Magee.

Boris the Armagh horse and an Armagh Volkswagen Bora also made an appearance on the day.
