A 33-year-old man has been released from police custody after a suspected firearm was seized in west Belfast on Sunday evening.
Planned searches were carried out at two properties in the Kashmir Road area of the city, where the suspected firearm and other items were seized from one of the addresses.
A police spokesperson said the items were being tested forensically as enquiries continue.
“They have since been removed for further forensic examination as enquiries continue tonight.
The man, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances, was released on Monday and a PSNI spokesperson said a report will be sent to the Public Prosecution Service.
The spokesperson added: “The investigation continues.”
