A 39-year old man appeared in court on Tuesday where he denied a charge linked to the April 2020 murder of Dublin gangland suspect Robbie Lawlor.

Me Lawlor - believed to be involved in organised crime in the Republic - was shot and killed in the Ardoyne area of Belfast over four years ago.

Patrick Teer and Adrian Holland have already been charged with, and have denied, murdering Mr Lawlor.

A third accused, James Fields, appeared at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday where he was charged with assisting offenders.

Fields, whose Belfast address is the subject of a reporting restriction, was charged that on April 4, 2020, knowing or believing other persons committed murder, ‘did an act with intent to impede their apprehension or prosecution, namely enabling them to leave the jurisdiction.’

When asked how he pleaded, Fields replied “not guilty.”

Following the arraignment, Mr Justice O’Hara confirmed that Fields case “is now joined with Holland and Teer” and said he would review the case in January, 2025.
