Man arrested for attempted murder after shooting in Newtownabbey

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A man has been arrested after a shooting in Newtownabbey left another man in hospital, PSNI said.

Police said a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted murder following the incident in the Fairview Avenue area on Monday night.

The ambulance service said it received a call at 9.40pm. It said it despatched two emergency crews and two ambulance officers to the incident.

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A large police cordon has been in place between Fairview Avenue, Ravelston Grove and the Beverley Road.

DUP MLA Pam Cameron said she was shocked by the incident and grateful for a swift response from PSNI.
