A 35-year-old man has been charged to court over an incident which took place in the early hours of Friday morning, when a police officer was grabbed and punched in the face in Belfast.

The man has been charged with three counts of assault on police officers, resisting police and a number of driving offences.

The charges are in relation to an incident which happened on the Dublin Road on Friday, when the man was pulled over after being seen ‘driving suspiciously’.

He attempted to make off from the officers, continuing to drive a short distance while holding onto one officer and punching them in the face.

He also grabbed and pulled two other officers during the incident.

He is set to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on January 10.
