A 30-year-old man arrested following a report of an assault on a pregnant woman on Saturday has been charged with common assault and criminal damge.

The man will appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 October.

He was arrested after the incident on the Ormeau Road near the Annadale Embankment in south Belfast.

Police say the 18-year-old expecting mum had reported being grabbed by the hair and thrown to the ground during the alleged assault at around 5.30pm on Saturday October 12.

The PSNI said on Tuesday it was believed that two males intervened and managed to break up the assault, with the woman not sustaining any injuries.
