A man has appeared in court accused of assaulting a doctor and being disorderly at Causeway Hospital.

Mark Keenan (52) appeared before Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday and confirmed he understood the two charges against him.

Keenan, from Islandbawn Drive in Antrim, faces a charge of common assault and using disorderly behaviour in the Coleraine hospital on November 23.

None of the alleged facts giving rise to the charges were outlined, but a police officer told the court she believed she could connect Keenan to each of the charges.

A prosecuting lawyer told District Judge Peter King that “body worn footage is available”.

Freeing Keenan on £500 bail with conditions to reside at home and not be drunk in public, Judge King adjourned the case to December 23.
