A Co Down man is to stand trial accused of throwing bleach at a woman.
At Downpatrick Crown Court, Steven Gerard McGhee (26) entered not guilty pleas to four charges.
Currently remanded in custody McGhee, from Bridge Street in Downpatrick faces charges arising from an alleged incident on April 20 last year.
They include two counts of common assault of a female, throwing a corrosive material at her, namely bleach, “with intent to burn, maim, disfigure, or disable and perverting the course of justice by sending a text to the alleged victim “asking her to not go to court”.
Following McGhee’s denials, barristers for the prosecution and defence agreed a trial would take up to three days to hear and remanding the defendant back into custody, Judge Geoffrey Miller KC scheduled the trial to begin on June 5.
