Man denies assault during Derry Apprentice Boys march

A man charged in connection with an assault on a Derry businessman in Spencer Road during last year’s annual Apprentice Boys March has pleaded not guilty.

Ian Knipe (47) with an address at Wentworth Green in Portadown faces one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a man on August 12 2023.

When he, appeared in court on Thursday he pleaded not guilty when the charge was put to him.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that two weeks would be required in order to fix a date for contest.

Knipe was released on continuing bail and the case was adjourned until July 25.
