Man held at knifepoint in home and forced to hand over large sum of cash

The aggravated burglary by two masked men happened in Downpatrick late on Wednesday

A man was forced to hand over a large sum of cash after being held at knifepoint for an hour in his own home in Co Down.

Two masked men threatened the homeowner during the ordeal, which happened late on Wednesday night in Downpatrick.

The pair entered the house on the Rathkeltair Road around 11.30pm. Police were told they remained in the house for an hour, holding the homeowner at knifepoint.

They escaped with the large amount of cash, making their way on foot towards Downpatrick town centre.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with information about the aggravated burglary to make contact.
