Man punched in face as masked intruders take cash from home in Co Down burglary

The incident happened at around 8pm on Friday

The PSNI are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact them.

A man was punched in the face by an intruder as a group of masked men burgled his home in Co Down on Friday evening.

Police say the incident happened just before 8pm in the Killyleah Street area of Crossgar.

“Shortly before 8pm, it was reported that four masked men dressed in dark coloured clothing entered the property,” a police spokesperson said.

“They forced the four occupants of the house to remain seated on the living room floor, whilst three of the intruders searched the property.

“It was also reported that when one of the occupants tried to get up, one of the men hit him on the face and made him sit down again.

“After approximately 15 minutes, the men left the house, and it was discovered that a sum of cash had been taken from a wallet.”

Police enquiries are ongoing and they are appealing to anyone who may witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time, or to anyone who may have any dashcam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 2536 of 24/01/25.
