Man released following arrest over assault on teen in Ballymoney

Attack in May left the 16-year-old victim hospitalised with injuries to head, arms and legs

A man has been released by police following his arrest in connection with an assault on a teenager in Co Antrim who was beaten with crowbars by masked gang.

The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested under the Terrorism Act on Wednesday in relation to the attack on the teenager on May 13 in Ballycastle.

The 16-year-old was beaten by a group of masked men in the Hamilton Park area of the town shortly before 10.25pm and was taken to hospital with injuries to his head, arms and legs.



The man arrested on Wednesday was later released following questioning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The investigation continues, and detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who might have any information about the assault...to contact them.”
