A 42-year-old man arrested by police investigating the shooting of PSNI detective John Caldwell has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The man was arrested under the Terrorism Act on Wednesday in connection with the attempted murder of Mr Caldwell, who was shot several times in front of his son at a sports complex in Omagh, Co Tyrone, in February 2023.
He was detained and questioned after presenting himself at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “The investigation continues.”
Mr Caldwell, who suffered life-changing injuries, spent several weeks in intensive care following the shooting, which has been blamed on the New IRA group.
