A north Belfast man has been remanded in custody over claims he threatened to “slit the throat” of his ex-partner with a knife while holding him against his will.

Scott Fulton (29), of no fixed abode, appeared handcuffed in the dock of Belfast Magistrates' Court where he faced charges of false imprisonment and threats to kill.

The constable said that around 3am on Tuesday, the complainant stated that he was at home when there was an unexpected knock on his door.

The court heard the defendant, who is the on-off partner of the male injured party, had called to the house to collect belongings.

“The injured party said Fulton was agitated and aggressive. He went into the kitchen and came back holding an eight inch knife,” the court heard.

”He told him: ‘I am going to slit your throat. I am going to put this knife through your throat. I want to kill you. I am not afraid to do time for you’.”

The defendant later left the property with his belongings.

The complainant also disclosed to police that around 8pm on July 15, the defendant allegedly called at his house, took a back door key and punched him to the side of the head.

Fulton was remanded in custody to appear back in court next month.
