Man treated for facial injuries following Newtownards assault

A man has been left with facial injuries after an attack by a group of people in Newtownards.

The incident happened shortly before 9pm on Monday in the Talbot Street area of the town.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was walking in a car park close to the junction with Crawfordsburn Road when he was set upon by four people in dark clothing.

A PSNI spokesperson said the victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries including a fractured eye socket and a broken nose.



”It is unclear at this stage if any weapons were used by the assailants during the attack,” the spokesperson said, adding: ”Our investigation is ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, and witnessed what happened, or who may have any information which might assist, to get in touch.

”The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1695 of 23/09/24.”
