A 29-year-old man who fled Northern Ireland while on bail has been arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The man was wanted on warrant for offences of robbery, dangerous driving, receiving stolen goods, possession and supply of drugs, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.

The offences occurred in the Derry and Mid-Ulster areas in 2016.

A PSNI spokesperson said the man was granted High Court bail in January 2017, but fled the jurisdiction.

Following his arrest by officers from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit, he is due to appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

”Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to avoid arrest or the consequences of their actions. We will relentlessly pursue those that are trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime,” the spokesperson added.
