The PSNI is appealing for information after a report of a BMW car being burnt out and a petrol bomb thrown at a house in Newry in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to the PSNI, three men were reported to have approached the car in the Helen’s Terrace area of the town at around 12.20am, smashing a window before setting the car alight.

The white BMW was later found completely burnt out.

While one of three men is reported to have made off on foot, detectives say two of the men were involved in an incident on nearby Clanrye Avenue which saw a patrol bomb being thrown at the front door of a house.

“Two men then exit a property in the Clanrye Avenue area upon hearing the car window smashed and approached the two men,” a statement said.
