Weavers Grange in Newtownards

An arson attack in a Co Down town is not believed to be linked to an ongoing loyalist feud.

Petrol was set alight at a vacant property at Weaver’s Grange area of Newtownards at around 10.30pm on Thursday.

Firefighters attended the scene and extinguished the blaze, which caused damage to the rear door area of the property.

The Weaver’s Grange estate was caught up in a bitter feud between rival loyalist factions last year, and resulted on several attacks on properties in the area.
