A man (39) has been arrested after a car that sped through a checkpoint in Co Down crashed and overturned into a field.
Police had been alerted to a collision involving a beige coloured Audi A4 car on the Quoile Bridge in Downpatrick shortly after 10.15pm on Sunday.
Leaving the scene of the crash, the car later sped through a police checkpoint on the Killyleagh Road.
A police patrol followed in the same direction and came across the car on its roof, in a field off the rural Craigarusky Road in Killinchy.
No-one was inside the vehicle, but a search of the area led to a man (39) discovered in nearby bushes with injuries requiring hospital treatment.
He was arrested on suspicion of a offences including driving whilst disqualified, driving whilst unfit, driving with no insurance or licence and failing to stop, remain and report a collision.
He has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
Further searches of the area were also carried out as the original report from the Quoile Bridge crash indicated there were two males in the car, but only was located in Killinchy.
The Craigarusky Road has since re-opened to traffic, with officers appealing to anyone who saw the Audi driving in the Downpatrick area on Sunday or has dash-cam footage to contact them.
Earlier, a Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said they received a 999 call shortly after 11pm on Sunday.
One Emergency Ambulance Crew and one Advanced Paramedic was dispatched to the incident.
After initial assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance.
