Paintings, drugs and diamonds among haul seized by police in Bangor operation

Diamonds, paintings, drugs, and luxury watches are among items seized by police after they arrived for a property search in Co Down in an armoured vehicle.

Local police assisted by specialist Operations Branch officers carried out the search in the Killaire Road area of Bangor on Wednesday.

A BearCat armoured vehicle was deployed in the operation and police seized a range of items that also included a suspected firearm, a “significant quantity” of Class A drugs, a sum of cash and a Range Rover Sport vehicle.



A 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including being in possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances, being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and possession of criminal property.

They remained in custody on Wednesday evening.
