A pedestrian is in a critical condition and a cyclist was seriously injured following a collision in south Belfast on Saturday.

Newton Park off the Saintfield Road was closed for a time following the accident which happened at approximately 12.45pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his forties, was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical. The cyclist, a male in his thirties, is in a serious condition in hospital.

Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing for information or any footage of the incident.
