Pedestrian killed in Co Antrim road crash named as Alan Doherty

Police said Alan Doherty was from the Dunloy area

A pedestrian who died following a road crash in Co Antrim has been named as Alan Doherty.

Police said the 57-year-old was from the Dunloy area.

The collision, which involved a car, happened on the Bridge Road in Dunloy shortly before 2.30am.

A PSNI spokesman said that Mr Doherty died at the scene from his injuries.

“The Bridge Road was closed overnight but has now reopened,” he added.

“Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision, and would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and witnessed what happened, or who may have captured mobile phone or dash-cam footage, to contact them on 101.”

UUP councillor Darryl Wilson offered his sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Doherty.



“A life lost brings unimaginable grief at any time of year, and must be particularly difficult at a time of year when we come together with loved ones,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Can I offer my deepest sympathies to Alan’s family, friends and all impacted by this awful tragedy.”
