Ms Martorell’s body was discovered by the members of NIFS tasked to a blaze at her Harvey Street flat, on Saturday, August 24.

The PSNI revealed later that day she had suffered a “horrific attack and sustained multiple injuries”.

Murray was arrested on Monday, August 26 and charged two days later.

Ms Martrell’s injuries were so extensive that detectives were initially unable to identify her.

During the short hearing last week, Murray confirmed his date of birth and address and that he understood the charges.
