Police in north Belfast are appealing for information following an arson attack on a car early on Sunday morning.

The Jaguar was set on fire close to the Crumlin Star Social Club on Balholme Drive in Ardoyne. The report of the arson was received around 2.25am, the PSNI said.

“A report was received at approximately 2.25am that a vehicle, parked in the vicinity of the Brompton Park area, had been completely burnt out,” the PSNI said in a statement.

“On officers’ arrival the fire had already been extinguished by our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

“Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the deliberate ignition, which we are treating as arson. However, irreversible damage was caused to the car.

“We believe this happened sometime after 10pm and between the early hours of Sunday morning.

“Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information including CCTV, dash-cam, or other footage of the area that could help our investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 259 12/05/24.”
