Police in Co Fermanagh investigating three separate reports in Irvinestown on Sunday are not treating a knife incident in which a man was hospitalised and two arson attacks as linked.
Officers were called to a report of a man with a knife in the Hudson Heights area of the town at around 2.30pm on Sunday.
It’s understood a man was taken to hospital following the incident in the town, while no arrests have been made in connection with it.
Several police vehicles, including officers from the PSNI’s Tactical Support Group, were understood to have attended after receiving the report.
Later that evening in the nearby Fairgreen Street in Irvinestown, emergency services were called to the scene of a suspected arson.
Three fire appliances attended the blaze at the ground floor flat after receiving a report at around 6.30pm on Sunday.
It was reported that an unknown person had forced entry to the unoccupied flat and started a fire in the kitchen of the property, causing smoke damage throughout the flat.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire just over an hour after it was reported.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service say the fire was started deliberately, while the PSNI is treating the blaze as arson and have appealed for information.
This followed the report of an arson attack on an unoccupied caravan at Sally’s Wood in Irvinestown shortly before 2am on Sunday morning.
There were no reports of any injuries at either location and police are currently investigating a link between both arson attacks.
The PSNI says it is not treating the knife incident as linked to the arson attacks, however residents noted police vehicles on patrol throughout Sunday night in the town.
