Part of a road in Co Derry has been closed following a serious crash on Thursday.

The collision happened on the Clooney Road close to Ballykelly, between Derry and Limavady on Thursday afternoon.

A PSNI spokesperson said diversions have been put in place at the Ballygudden Road roundabout at Eglington for Limavady-bound traffic and the Ballykelly Road roundabout at Limavady for Derry-bound traffic.



A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they received a 999 call at 2.17pm and sent an emergency crew to the scene with two rapid response paramedics.

“No patients were taken from the scene,” they said.

Causeway Coast and Glens Sinn Féin councillor for the Benbradagh area, Dermott Nicholl, said: “I would urge motorists to be aware of the road diversions, and my thoughts are with those involved in the collision as we await further updates.”
