Four people have been taken to hospital following a serious crash in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

The collision happened shortly before 2.20pm on Friday afternoon at O’Neill Road.

The road was closed as emergency services arrived at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said four emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, along with the Charity Air Ambulance.



“Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, four patients were taken to hospital by ambulance - one to Royal Victoria Hospital and three to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children,” they added.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “O’Neill Road is closed to road users between Antrim Road and Prince Charles Road roundabout. Please seek an alternative route for your journey.”
