Road traffic collision closes Knock dual carriageway in east Belfast

Diversions in place at Sandown and Kensington roads

The Knock dual carriageway in east Belfast remains closed in both directions due to a serious road traffic collision.

Police are advising that diversions are in place at Sandown Road and Kensington Road.

Drivers have also been asked to avoid the area at this time.

The O’Neill Road in Newtownabbey has reopened to traffic following a road traffic collision, shortly before 2.20pm on Friday afternoon.

Four people, including three children, were taken to hospital.

The road was closed as emergency services arrived at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said four emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, along with the Charity Air Ambulance.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, four patients were taken to hospital by ambulance - one to Royal Victoria Hospital and three to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children,” they added.
