A road remains closed following a serious crash involving a motorcycle in Lurgan.

The collision happened in the Lake Street area of the Co Armagh town on Thursday afternoon.

Police closed Lake Street as emergency services arrived at the scene.

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said three emergency crews with two rapid-response paramedics were tasked to the scene alongside the Charity Air Ambulance.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to RVH in Belfast, and another to Craigavon Area Hospital,” they added.

A PSNI spokesperson said Lake Street is shut at the Antrim Road junction, as well as the Victoria Street, Levin Road and North Circular Road approaches.

“If possible, seek alternative routes until further notice,” the spokesperson added.

Lurgan DUP councillor Peter Haire told the Irish News: “This appears to be a very serious crash, and my thoughts are with those involved as we await further updates.”

Meanwhile the Moy Road in Dungannon has been closed following a single-vehicle crash on Thursday evening.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Diversions are in place at the Stangmore Roundabout, please seek an alternate route.”
