Rory McIlroy has arrived at Le Golf National in Paris where he has joined team mate Shane Lowry ahead of the Olympics golf.

The pair were pictured laughing and joking on Tuesday as the played a practice round ahead of the competition opening on Thursday.

The Co Down golfer opted to represent Ireland over Great Britain when making his Olympic debut in 2021.

The world number 3 will make his second appearance after coming up short of securing a medal in the Tokyo games three years ago.

McIlroy has had a difficult summer, losing the US Open in dramatic fashion and missing the cut at the Open in Troon earlier this month.

However, close friends McIlroy and Lowry have a good record together, with the pair winning the last time they teamed up, at the Zurich Classic in April.

Shane Lowry carried the flag for Ireland in the opening ceremonies.
