Search underway for Belfast ‘Night Czar’

New role will help steer city’s night-time economy and boost services including transport

Willie Jack's umbrella light installation has made Commercial Court one of Belfast's most photographed streets.
The Cathedral Quarter is one of Belfast's key nightlife areas.

The hunt is on for a new ‘Night Czar’ to enhance Belfast’s night-time economy.

The role is modelled on London’s Night Czar, and will see the selected individual act as a central point of contact for night-time services including hospitality.

Late-night transport services will also be a key role for the new Czar.

Belfast’s three Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) - Linen Quarter BID, Belfast One and Destination Cathedral Quarter - are funding the role, with applications being accepted until May 20.

“This appointment marks a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to enhance our night-time economy and address pressing issues affecting our city after hours,” Linen Quarter BID managing director Chris McCracken said.

“We are confident that by selecting the right candidate, we will not only elevate the vibrancy of our nightlife but also tackle key challenges making Belfast an even more dynamic and welcoming destination for all.”
