A long stretch of motorway in Co Antrim remains closed in both directions following a security alert.

Motorists are advised the M22 between the Dunsilly and Ballygrooby is closed.

The A5 in Co Tyrone is closed at its junction with the Woodend Road, Strabane and Leckpatrick Road, Ballymagorry. All traffic is being diverted via Donemana.

It is likely the road will be closed for the rest of the morning, the PSNI said.

West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan urged motorists to seek alternative routes.

“The A5 remains closed this morning at Ballymagorry. It is not possible to pass through the village,” the SDLP MLA said. “This is a very serious incident and will take time.”
