Two objects that sparked a security alert on a road outside Belfast have been declared elaborate hoaxes.

The objects were reported in the vicinity of a building at Ballyutoag Road in Co Antrim at around 11.30am on Wednesday.

Police closed a stretch of the road between its junctions with Seven Mile Straight and Lylehill Road as examinations took place.

A PSNI spokesperson said the objects were declared elaborate hoaxes and were removed for further forensic examination before the road was reopened.

“An investigation is underway and officers would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact police at Antrim on 101, quoting reference number 524 12/06/24,” they added.
