Train passengers are being advised of “severe disruption” to rail services this morning following a “tragic incident” in Whiteabbey.

It happened at around 6.30am.

The Derry to Belfast and the Larne to Belfast lines have been impacted as a result.

Translink have said that the Derry to Belfast line is operating from Derry to Antrim, with a bus substitution service in place from Antrim to Belfast.

The Larne to Belfast line is operating from Larne to Carrickfergus, with bus substitution services in place from Carrickfergus to Belfast.

A Translink spokesperson said: “Trains are now operating from Derry to Antrim & from Larne Harbour to Carrickfergus.

“Trains will be turned at Antrim & Carrickfergus and return in their own path.”
