A 14-year-old boy who was critically injured in a quad bike crash in Co Derry has died.
Isaac Roxborough, who was from the Burnfoot area of Dungiven, died on Wednesday, police have confirmed.
The teenager was involved in a single vehicle collision in the Ballygudden Road area of Eglinton on Tuesday morning.
Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family at this incredibly sad time.”
She added: ”A meticulous investigation to establish the circumstances is underway and we would ask anyone who noticed the red Honda quad on the Ballygudden Road on Tuesday morning, 25th June, shortly before 11.30am or who witnessed the collision to contact us on 101 quoting 675 25/06/24 with any information or dash-cam footage.”
Isaac was a member of the Moneydig Young Conquerors flute band.
In a statemen posted to social media, a band spokesperson said: “Isaac had been a part of our band since he was a wee nipper, first as an enthusiastic cymbal player and over the last couple of years as a gifted side drummer, proudly parading alongside his dad Mark and brothers Adam and James.
“Always with a smile and a kind word for everyone, he will be fondly remembered by everyone associated with the band.
They added: “Deepest condolences to Mark, Katrina and the family circle.”
Other bands posted condolences to the teenager, including Burntollet Sons of Ulster and Ballyrashane Flute Band.
The Burnfoot Community Centre in Dungiven announced it will remain closed for the next two days as a mark of respect to the Roxborough family.
“The committee, staff and the entire community of Burnfoot wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to Mark, Katrina, Adam and James on the tragic news of the passing of Isaac Roxborough,” a spokesperson said in a post on Wednesday evening.
