Twelve taken to hospital following Co Tyrone house fire

Four people were led to safety following the incident in the Cunninghams Lane area of Dungannon on Monday evening.

Twelve people have been taken to hospital following a house fire in Co Tyrone.

Four people were led to safety following the incident in the Cunninghams Lane area of Dungannon on Monday evening.

Several police officers were also treated for smoke inhalation.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call shortly after 8:30pm on Monday and a number of emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, as well as rapid response paramedics.

A spokesperson said: “Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, 12 patients were taken by ambulance to Craigavon Area Hospital.”

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

They said fire crews arrived at the property to find that four people had been led to safety from the property by police officers.

A spokesperson said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus and using firefighting jets, extinguished a fire at the property and rendered first aid.



“The four persons were left in the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

“Several police officers were also treated for smoke inhalation.”

Police said the road had been closed for a time but has now reopened.
