Two arrested as man treated for head injury following Belfast assault

Two people have been arrested after a man was injured in an assault in south Belfast.

The incident happened in the Botanic Avenue area at around 3pm on Tuesday.

Police received a report of an altercation involving a number of people in the area, and upon arrival officers arrested a man and a woman, both aged 37, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A man was taken from the scene to hospital for treatment to a head injury.



The woman arrested has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries, while the detained man remained in police custody on Wednesday.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the altercation to contact police on 101 quoting reference 948 10/09/24.”
