Two arrested over Conlig stabbing that left man hospitalised

The arrests relate to the incident which took place on the outskirts of Bangor on Tuesday

Detectives in Newtownards are appealing for information following a report of a serious assault in Conlig this morning, Tuesday 7th January.

Detective Sergeant Westbury said: "We received a report shortly after 8am that a man had been seriously assaulted in the Breezemount Close area.

ÒThe man sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital for his injuries. At this time, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

ÒAn investigation has commenced and we are appealing to anyone with information that could assist us to phone 101 quoting reference number 182 07/01/25.

A 38-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested in relation to a stabbing incident that happened on the outskirts of Bangor on Tuesday.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, while the woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.

“Both were arrested at an address in Bangor on Friday 10th January and currently remain in police custody,” a police spokesperson said.

They added that the investigation into the incident, which resulted in a man being hospitalised with stab wounds, had been “progressing rapidly”.

Officers received a report of a serious assault in the Breezemount Close area of Conlig at around 8am on Tuesday morning.

The man was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
