A man has been arrested for drink-driving in a ‘carnage’ collision which left two people needing hospital treatment in Co Down.
Officers responded to reports of a crash between Portavogie and Cloughey just after 1am on Sunday morning.
After police spoke to both drivers at the scene and obtained breath samples, one of the drivers failed his breath test and was ‘arrested for drink-driving.’
Sharing a photo of the crash on Facebook, officers from the Ards & North Down policing branch said: “Part of the aftermath and carnage of a collision that we responded to just after 1am this morning - shocking isn’t it...
“Unfortunately, this serves as another reminder of the absolute devastation that is caused when people drink and drive - please, do not do it.”

Police enquiries are ongoing and they are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them on 101, quoting reference 83 of 29/12/24.
