Two men arrested in New IRA-linked investigation released

The pair, aged 39 and 51, were arrested on Friday following police raids on a number of properties

Two men arrested in a New-IRA investigation have been released following questioning

Two men arrested in Belfast by police investigating the activities of the New IRA were released on Saturday following questioning.

The men, aged 39 and 51, were detained under the Terrorism Act on Friday by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit.



They were taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

A PSNI spokesperson said mobile phones, cash and a small quantity of cannabis were also seized during related searches on Friday at properties in north and west Belfast.

“The items will now undergo further forensic examination,” they added.
