Four police officers have been injured during separate incidents in counties Tyrone and Derry.

A police vehicle was rammed in Ballygawley during the early hours of Thursday morning.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences, including dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol.

He was later released on bail to allow for further enquiries.

The PSNI said the officers on patrol spotted a silver Ford C Max being driven erratically on the Millix Road, before performing a dangerous manoeuvre and making off.

“Despite suffering injuries both officers continued on duty, arresting the suspect and taking him into custody.”

Meanwhile, another two PSNI officers were injured and two police vehicles rammed in Derry after a car was driven dangerously in several parts of the city on Thursday.

A PSNI spokesman said the vehicle was seen speeding and driven dangerously in a number of areas, including Creggan Heights, Westway and Central Drive, from around 1.45pm.

While police responded the PSNI said two police vehicles were damaged during the incident after being rammed.

“Unfortunately, two officers have been reported as being injured at this time.”
