These are the moments after the female driver of an Amazon electric cargo bike was forced from a vehicle by a group of young males.

The e-cargo bike-jacking happened on Sunday afternoon in Fisherwick Place in Belfast City Centre.

Those involved then sped off along Great Victoria Street, with some witnesses seen attempting to chase the vehicle.

It was driven all the way up the Falls Road before being discovered on fire in the Falls Park area, police said. Two young males were arrested and street bailed.

Police said that it was reported around 3.55pm a group of young males pushed the delivery person out of her bike, stole the vehicle and made off from the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone with any information including any dashcam or mobile phone footage in relation to the incident to contact 101 quoting reference number CW 961 – 06/10/24.

Electric cargo bikes were introduced by Amazon into Belfast in May. The company was contacted for comment, particularly on whether there have been other such incidents since their introduction.
