This is the beautiful moment a Co Armagh grandmother had her day made by one of the county’s All-Ireland winning heroes with a visit from the Sam Maguire trophy.

Rosaleen McNally, a resident of St Francis’ nursing home in Portadown received the surprise visit from All-Ireland Final man of the match Oisin Conaty from the nearby Tir na Nog club on Saturday.

Rosaleen’s granddaughter Maeve Brennan said it is something her granny is unlikely to ever forget.

“She has been losing her memory the past few years but anytime we go to visit we always talk about the ‘glory day’s of the late 90s and early 2000 when we would have been following Armagh and she says they were the best days of her life,” Maeve told the Irish News.

“My nanny was absolutely delighted at not only seeing Sam but Oisin - the Man of the Match.

“She is a Maghery woman so was crying tears of joy when Aidan Forker lifted the trophy for Armagh. She followed Armagh up and down the country for years.”
