A woman escaped uninjured after a "frightening" attempt to hijack her vehicle in Co Down.

The motorist was driving along Listooder Road in Saintfield just after 10.30pm on Friday when she was approached by a man standing in the middle of the road, at the junction of Old Grand Jury Road.

He ordered her to get out but she managed to drive off.

Sergeant Nigel Donnelly said: "Thankfully, the woman managed to drive away, and she was uninjured, but this was a frightening experience for her."

Police appealed for information.
