COMEDIAN Patrick Kielty is among a host of television and radio stars who will share their story with school children in Northern Ireland.
It is part of a BBC initiative to mark its centenary in 2022 and will also involve the entire digitised BBC broadcast archive being made available to students in formal education in the UK next year.
As part of the celebrations, BBC stars and staff will visit 250,000 pupils in schools across Britain and Northern Ireland to inspire the next generation of storytellers, in a project called Share Your Story.
Dundrum-born presenter Kielty said: "I’m so looking forward to sharing my story with students in Northern Ireland, but mostly I’m looking forward to hearing their stories; the challenges they’ve faced, the goals they’ve achieved, the highs, the lows and everything in between.
"Everyone has a story to tell and I think it’s great that the BBC are helping young people share theirs.
"I’ve been lucky enough to share my story in different ways throughout my career, from stand-up, to radio and even through documentaries, and I’m keen to show the students that however they choose to tell their story, they absolutely deserve to be heard."
Peter Johnston, director of BBC NI, said: "I’m really pleased that students in Northern Ireland will be visited by BBC stars and staff to help them develop the skills and confidence to tell their own stories."
