NEW support centres are offering assistance to Ukrainian refugees in areas including housing, employment and education.
The Ukrainian Advice Centre at the Cecil Ward Building in Belfast's Linenhall Street is the first of several to open this week.
Beginning its services today in partnership with Belfast City Council, it will operate on a weekly basis and offer advice and support to those fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
It is estimated there are more than 300 Ukrainians in the north who have arrived since the invasion began in February.
A Belfast City Council spokesperson said: "Anyone attending will be welcomed by our staff and a range of partners who are coming together to offer support and assistance on a wide range of issues."
The centres also offer assistance for refugees on benefits and support payments along with health information.
Meanwhile, organisations including the Law Centre NI, the Red Cross and the Housing Executive will have representatives available on site to provide details for visitors.
The spokesperson added: "Interpreter services are available, and our play service staff have set up an area for children with toys and activities to create a safe and welcoming environment."
The Belfast centre will open again this coming Friday, April 15, at 9.30am, due to the building being closed on Easter Monday, April 18.
Today, the Ukrainian Advice Centre for the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area opens at Newry Leisure Centre, while on Wednesday another opens at Craigavon's Brownlow Community Hub.
Thursday will see a centre open at The Braid in Ballymena.
Attendees of all centres are advised to bring ID and proof of the scheme under which they are registered to be in the UK.
