Mourners have gathered to say their final farewells to a Co Armagh mother-of-three who died in a road crash tragedy that also claimed the lives of her husband and a friend.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral of Ciera Grimley, described as a loving wife and a devoted mother, at St Joseph's Church in Madden on Thursday.

Her death came just over a week after her husband Patrick died at the scene of the horrific early morning crash near Markethill on November 4.

The couple, who had three children together, had been travelling home in a taxi minivan after celebrating Mr Grimley’s 40th birthday in Dundalk when the tragedy happened on the Gosford Road.

Their friend and neighbour, Ciara McElvanna (44), also died in the Royal Victoria Hospital last Wednesday from injuries she suffered in the collision.

The wife of All-Ireland winning Gaelic footballer Kevin McElvanna, the funeral for the mother-of-four took place in Madden last Saturday.

On Thursday, family and friends of Ms Grimley were joined at the funeral mass by members of Madden Raparees GAA Clb in which the Grimley's had strong links to.
