Police investigating the killing of Bobbie McKee in Co Down earlier this year are appealing for information on a black holdall bag they believe was carried by the man charged with his murder.

Mr McKee, who was 69, was found unconscious at his home in the Newcastle Road area of Kilkeel in March.

His wife Yvonne was also found with serious head injuries at the property, and Mr McKee was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was the brother of former UUP MLA Harold McKee, who later joined the TUV.

Colin William James McKee (25), of Canal Street in Newry, has been charged with the murder of Mr McKee and the attempted murder of his wife, and was remanded in custody after appearing in March before Newry Magistrates’ Court.

Police are appealing for the public’s help in locating a black holdall the defendent was seen carrying in the days before Mr McKee’s murder.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly said: “Although our investigation continues, the community should be assured that we are not seeking any other suspect or suspects at this time.”

“As part of our enquiries, I am particularly keen to locate a black holdall. I’ve now released an image, which appears to show the defendant carry the bag onto a bus on the evening of 17 March 2024. The bus, headed for Kilkeel, is boarded in Newry at 5.07pm.

“The fact that this was St Patrick’s Day may help jog memories. If you have any information that could help us to locate this holdall, please contact our officers on 101.”

He added: “This was a tragic case and my thoughts are with Mr McKee’s family and loved ones who have suffered terribly.

”Anyone with information should contact detectives on 101, quoting reference 739 of 21/03/24.”
